Yes, I understand that I could transfer my domain to wordpress – and might come back later with my tail between my legs having failed procuring an audience for my website – but I like my website. I’ve worked hard on it. And if you don’t want to try to keep up with the blog on my website I make it easier by sending out an art collector newsletter – which you can sign up for here.

If you don’t go over to lizkellyzook.com/blog you will be missing out on these great posts:

Also, coming up on lizkellyzook.com/blog in the future:

Payment Options

That’s why I have added payment options for all paintings over $200.
If you’re interested check out the Payment Options page on my website.
It holds all of the information you need. And if you have any questions you can leave them in the comments.

(This is a trial run. I’m going to see how it goes for a few months. If there is actually need for this sort of thing, etc.
I’m trying to be helpful here.)

Downloadable Doodles

So, once a month I’m going to post free downloadable art prints. I’m calling them #downloadabledoodles and they’ll be available for free to download and print from the freebies page on my website. They’ll be 4″ by 6″ or 4″ by 4″ watercolors. They’ll only be available for one month. Once the next doodle goes up you won’t be able to get the previous one.

These prints cannot be used for monetary gain, mass production, or publication unless you’re sharing them with proper credit to the artist. You may print extras and send them to friends, but please keep my name on them. As long as everyone respects intellectual property rights I will continue making them available.

This month’s doodle is…

Well, you’ll just have to pop over there to see, won’t you?

Fuck Off And Other Paintings

“Fuck Off And Other Paintings” is my new coffee table art book!

It has 38 full color pages in a paperback cover. It’s 8.5″ by 8.5″ and about an eighth of an inch thick.

The backs of the pages are blank so that you can hang the pictures as prints or write on the back and send them as letters. The pages are pretty thick, too.

You can get the new book here, but if you want a signed copy you can order it through my website. A signed copy will cost extra, because it will have to be shipped to me to sign and then shipped to you. Processing will also take longer, but I’d be happy to do it for you!

About Me Video

I finally finished the About Me video. I got tired of doing it over and over again. So after this last one I just thought, “Fuck it. This is me. People will deal.”

The wasp didn’t go away until a bit after I finished then I had to rush out to pick up the kiddos from school.

If you had been stung four times in one week (two summers ago) you’d be scared of wasps, too.

I Wanted To Try Something New

A watered down style looks A LOT different from my thick popped out style, but I wanted to try it anyway. I think these paintings turned out really well!

I would like to note that the painting of Marilyn Monroe was inspired by a photograph taken by Richard Avedon. Painted Lips painting was inspired by a photograph taken by Lucie Kout. And I can’t find source information on the picture that I used of Debbie Harry.

I really like the colors and style and lines of these pieces, but I prefer my bold colors. I don’t know that I’ll do a lot of paintings like these. I’m happy that I tried it, though! The style fits perfectly with these pieces. Especially Norma Jeane as Marilyn Monroe, because I really wanted something more ethereal and otherworldly.

In my Studio

These paintings will not be included in the Half Off Art Sale (that you only have two days left to take advantage of). They won’t be added into Available Paintings or listed anywhere until November 1st.

I hope you have a blast this Halloween Weekend; even if you don’t celebrate Halloween.

I Was Wrong

I was completely wrong this past weekend. I said that I was going to be able to start on the Trailer Park series that I’ve wanted to do for months. I will not be able to start on that this week, though. I mean, I might get as far as a sketch on a canvas, but most likely no painting.

This week I want to start on sketching out wall paintings in my childrens’ rooms. My daughter is getting an Eiffel Tower (with some hearts, Mom!) and my son is getting a volcano (with the lava underneath!). It’s going to take a lot of work, but I promised them if they didn’t color on their walls I would put something special up. They held up their end of the bargain. Now it’s my turn.

I will also be working in some small cat paintings some time this week, too. Some art friends will be setting up a table at Purple Paws for Rutherford County Cat Rescue. (It’s so fun that most of my art friends are also animal lovers and rescuers.)

I have a busy week ahead. I will post when I can, but it’s much easier to follow along on Instagram. ❤
